1991 U.S. Women's World Cup Team

October 8, 2001

The 1991 U.S. Women's National Team created the standard for women's soccer throughout the world, playing in a relentless all-out attacking style. These players and their coaches built the foundation that ultimately changed the face of the game.

The power of their game and their collective personality caused Women's Soccer to be added to the roster of the Olympic Sports in 1996, World Cup, and fostered the founding of the first women's professional soccer league in the United States, the WomenÍs United Soccer Association (WUSA) in 2001.
