Lamar Hunt

Lamar began his contributions to the sport of soccer with the Dallas Tornado of the NASL. For 14 years, the Tornado laid the foundation for an extremely successful youth soccer presence in Texas.

Hunt served as Dallas Host Committee Chairman for World Cup 1994 and with the advent of the MLS, Lamar Hunt stepped to the soccer forefront again, as an investor/operator of the Kansas City Wizards and Columbus Crew. In 1999, he showed unprecedented commitment to soccer with the construction of Columbus Crew Stadium, the first major soccer-specific stadium in the United States. And the legacy grew larger as HuntÍs Wizards brought home the 2000 MLS Cup Championship trophy to Kansas City. Lamar Hunt - a dedicated builder of professional soccer in America.

Lamar was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1982 as a builder.
