Major League Soccer


                      

Major League Soccer became the first men's top division professional soccer league since the collapse of the North American Soccer League in 1984. The MLS inaugurated in 1996 with 10 teams - New England Revolution, MetroStars, Columbus Crew, Chicago Fire, D.C. United, San Jose Clash, Colorado Rapids, Los Angeles Galaxy, Dallas Burn, Kansas City Wizards. The MLS expanded with two new franchises for the 2005 season with the addition of Real Salt Lake and Club Deportivo Chivas USA, and in 2007, FC Toronto joined the league.
