The Pelé Era: 1975 - 1977


                      

Pelé, the world's most recognizable soccer figure, competed in the NASL from 1975 to 1977 with the New York Cosmos. Pelé's tenure in the NASL was short, but a memorable one as he turned the NASL from the unknown league into a major league instantaneously. Pelé also increased the popularity of soccer with the youth in the United States.
