Allan McClay


Came to the U.S. in 1905 to live in Everett, Massachusetts and as a boy played soccer in Everett Elementary Schools and then youth soccer as a member of the Cedar Hill Juniors and Malvern Scotties.

At the senior level he played for St. Georges S.C. of Boston from 1919 to 1920 but was forced to give up playing as the result of a leg injury in 1923. He then turned to the administrative side of the game introducing and developing soccer at Watertown High School and was later organizer, manager and coach of Watertown F.C. in the Boston and District League from 1945 to 1948. Coached youth and junior soccer in Everett from 1915-1967. Helped organize the New England League in 1962 and in 1964 was one of the organizers of the Massachusetts State League. Also organized the Blackstone Valley Junior League. He was president of the Massachusetts State Association from 1949 to 1970 and secretary of the Massachusetts State League from 1964 to 1970. From 1956-1970 MacLay was National Cup Commissioner for Open, Amateur and Junior cup competitions. Served as member of the USSF Referees Committee. He was also secretary and treasurer of the Boston & District League from 1946-1970. Lived in Franklin, Massachusetts at the time of his induction.
