In 1898 organized Oakland Hornets whose major games were against visiting
British merchant seamen. Formed the first San Francisco Bay area league with
the first game being played in January of 1902. Led the Hornets to the
championship and remained till 1908 when he joined the Olympic Club. Olympic
Club Commissioner from 1914 to 1925, he spent the next five years organizing
various sports while Commissioner-Coach at Petaluna. In 1932
he managed the Barbarians, formerly the Hornets, and remained
active in soccer until 1942. Elected honorary president of the
Northern California Football Association in 1942. He also
excelled at rugby, cross country running, swimming and
gymnastics.
