Left school at the age
of 14 to become an apprentice boilermaker. Moved to Canada in 1914 where at the age of 17 he played soccer
at Westmount High School in Montreal. Later he moved to Western Canada and played in Prince Rupert,
British Columbia for 10 years. Moved to the United States to live in Seattle in September 1947
and helped form the Fremont boys soccer team and in 1949 was playing for
Buchan S.C. in the first division of the State League. In addition to playing he managed
teams in the first division from 1958 to 1962. He became a referee while still an active player in the
State League and in 1962 began refereeing senior games in the State of
Washington and later refereed games in the North American Soccer
League. He was elected to the old
Washington State Soccer Football Association in 1957 and served as
commissioner until 1961.
