From then until 1919, he played for Tacony,
Philadelphia Hibernian, Bethlehem Steel, Braddock, Homestead
and Castle Shannon. When his playing days were over he became
a referee and from 1920 until 1928 refereed all the important
games played in Western Pennsylvania. He also handled the
National Open Cup Final of 1930 between Fall River Marksmen
and Cleveland Bruells, and 1934 final between St. Louis Stix,
Baer and Fuller and Pawtucket Rangers. In addition he also
refereed two Eastern Amateur Cup Finals and in the American,
Atlantic, Eastern, Field Gas and Electric, Metropolitan and
Public School Leagues. On the international scene he refereed
three World Cup elimination games in Mexico City in 1934
between Cuba and Mexico. Later became president of the New
York and National Referees Committees.
