participated in rowing and swimming.

He organized a soccer league in Detroit in the early 1900s and in
1905 became its president. Later
he organized the Michigan State Association and was its president from
1913 to 1919. In 1916 became
third vice president of the USSFA for two years then spent another two
years as second vice president. He was elected president of the parent body in May of 1919 at the
Annual General Meeting in Chicago and retained office until 1923. During the years he was a national
executive he served on the Rules and Revision Committee with the
exception of a three year break. He was also honored on December 10, 1954 by the Detroit Racquet
Club in recognition of his fifty years with the club.
