Milton Miller


A graduate of New York University he began an outstanding career in journalism as editor of the Education Sun the weekly publication of his college.

Even while a student he became a sports writer for the New York American and one of his assignments was to cover local soccer leagues.  In the late 1930s he accepted the post of sports editor for the Wilkes-Barre Record and in that position also became a sports caster for a local radio station. On returning to New York with the outbreak of World War Two he went to work for the newspaper PM and there added to his sports interests by involvement in the then-burgeoning labor movement. At his death he was editor of Local 888 News and 338 News. His interest in the theatre was developed through membership in the world-famous Lambs Club and somehow he also found time for fraternal activities and was president of Sports Lodge B'Nai B'rith from 1961 to 1963. He also founded and published the Soccer News from the early 50s into the 70s. Along the way assembled an outstanding research collection which he donated to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. At one time he was a part owner of New York Hakoah-Americans of the American Soccer League and was also a charter member of the American Newspaper Guild. He was buried in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
