Born: Ireland
elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Junior Soccer League in 1974, elected president of the league in 1997 and coached the Long Island Minutemen to the McGuire Cup Finals in 1978. Collins established the LIJSL’s Esteemed Sportsmans Program in the 1980’s to counter negative influences in sports and has established Liberty Cup sister tournaments in Russia, Ireland and Italy. In 1996 he helped establish the Long Island Soccer Park in which his teams could play. Peter Collins served as president of the league for an uninterrupted, twenty-seven year tenure, and he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1998.
