Chico
signed his first professional contract in 1939 at the age of 15
with the famous Racing club of Buenos Aires starting out in the third
team and working his way up.

In 1947 he moved to the United States where
he signed for the Armenian club in the New York Eastern District League,
leading the team to the championship, and being voted the league's most
valuable player. In 1949 he signed for Brooklyn Hispano of the American
Soccer League and one year later began the first of his eight seasons
with the New York Swiss club of the German-American League. While with the Hispano, in 1949, he
played for the American Soccer League All-Stars against the Scottish
national team and Inter-Milan and in that same year played for the New
York Stars against Belfast Celtic and Inter Milan. Later he moved to Connecticut to play
for Bridgeport City a club he later coached. He played for the U.S. National Team four times, making his
debut against England in New York in 1953, and then played against
Mexico, twice and Haiti in World Cup qualifying in 1954. After retiring
as a player he coached at Southern Connecticut State College and Yale
University where from 1976 to 1979 he was coach of the women's team. He then went on to become regional
head coach for U.S. Soccer's Olympic Development Program. His coaching honors also include five semi-professional
championships from 1974-80 with Bridgeport Vasco da Gama.
Where Are They Now:
Chico may be
80 years old, but he feels thirty
years younger. One of the most valuable contributors to the
sport of soccer over the past century, Chacurian still works in youth soccer
development today.
