Johnny Moore


Moore was a player in the California Soccer Association from 1967 to 1988 during which time he played on numerous all-star teams, as well as San Francisco league and state championships.

Played four seasons for the San Jose Earthquakes in the North American Soccer League from 1974 to 1977 and finished his NASL career with the Oakland Stompers in 1978. Moore then went on to play in the Major Indoor Soccer League from 1979-1982 with the Detroit Lightning, San Francisco Fog, Kansas City Comets and Phoenix Inferno. During his MISL tenure, he played on two all-star teams. Played a total of 12 times for the United States in full international competition including four World Cup qualifying games. Johnny Moore was a coach for 27 years beginning in 1969 for various men’s and women’s clubs at both the amateur and youth levels. He served as Vice President and General Manager of the San Jose Earthquakes until 2003.
