Nicholas Kropfelder


A star at Loyola College in his younger days Nick came to prominence with the 1946 Baltimore Americans who won the American Soccer League championship in that year.

Born: Baltimore, MD

In 1948 he led the team in scoring but in 1949 moved to Philadelphia to join the Philadelphia Nationals. With the Nationals he won the ASL championship in 1950 and 1951 and three Lewis Cups in 1951, 1952 and 1953. In 1949 he was a member of the Nationals team beaten in the U.S. Open Cup final by Morgan S.C., and in 1952 by Harmarville. He was the ASL's leading goalscorer in 1951. Nick retired in 1954 after playing his final season with the Baltimore Rockets. In 1948 he played for the Baltimore All-Stars against Liverpool, in 1949 for the Philadelphia All-Stars and the Philadelphia Nationals against Belfast Celtic and in 1953 for Baltimore Stars against Young Boys of Berne, Switzerland.

Where Are They Now: Nick currently lives in Catonsville, Maryland, and spends most of his summer days at Ocean City, where he has perfected the art of relaxing nearly as much as he perfected the sport of soccer. more>
