Hall
of Famer
Paul Caligiuri (Class
of 2004) will host a BBQ and
Clinic for area youth on Friday, May 20th beginning at 5:00pm on
the Hall of Fame campus.
“Paul has a wealth of experience
in playing and in coaching,” Hall of Fame Director of Operations
Kathryn Dailey said. “We are so pleased to bring his wonderful
personality and his coaching expertise to Oneonta. We’ll have a
fun evening!”
Tickets for the event are $10
per person. Call the Hall of Fame at 432-3351 ext. 206 for
information and reservations.
Caligiuri scored the goal that
propelled the U.S. into the 1990 FIFA World Cup, the first U.S.
World Cup appearance since 1950. Characteristically humble, he
credits the team with the important victory, stating he only
played his role and took advantage of the opportunity to shoot
created by his teammates. Following a 14-year, 110 Cap National
Team career and 6-years in Major League Soccer, Paul accepted
the Men’s and Women’s Head Soccer Coach position at Cal Poly
Pomona where both teams have shown improved results during his
tenure.
