In
the best tradition of beginning new adventures on St. Patrick’s
Day, the National Soccer Hall of Fame unveiled its new web look
today. “We had two goals in mind in this redesign effort," Hall
of Fame Webmaster
David Hammons stated, “to improve the navigation of the
site and, at the same time, give it a fresh clean look. I hope
all our millions of visitors will find we have accomplished both
goals.”
The Hall of Fame web site,
www.soccerhall.org, is the definitive resource for the
history of soccer in the United States. First and foremost,
every Hall of Famer is profiled on the site. Information about
every U.S. international player and match plus statistics on
every player in the American Soccer League, the North American
Soccer League, the Women’s United Soccer Association, and Major
League Soccer are found on the site. Additionally there are
columns and articles about the game from its earliest years to
this week’s U.S. Women’s National Team victory at the Algarve
Cup.
“The importance of this redesign
cannot be overstated,” Hall of Fame President Will Lunn said. “A
recent poll of U.S. sports marketing leaders indicates that they
expect the Internet to surpass all other sources of sports news
in the next 5 years. The growth of visits to our web site has
been astounding and we see ourselves as a growing presence among
all soccer sites. We reach millions on the web including soccer
fans from over 170 countries. The Hall of Fame web site is our
most potent marketing tool!”
At the same time the web site
serves as visitor central, with a wide range of vacation
planning information, including discount coupons for Museum
admission. “We strive to make your visit to the Oneonta and
Cooperstown region as easy as possible, “Kathryn Dailey, Hall of
Fame Director of Operations, said. “The virtual tour is a tease
of our spectacular Museum and the other planning tools let our
web visitors find hotels and restaurants in the area, making the
Hall of Fame website the departure point for an Upstate New York
vacation.”
