5th Annual High School Hall of Fame Cup

The 5th Annual High School Hall of Fame Cup held at the National Soccer Hall of Fame this past weekend saw three local teams win titles as the Edmeston (Boys), Oneonta (Girls) and Unatego (Girls) all won their respective groups. This year's Cup also had two teams win their third consecutive championship (Niskayuna Girls and Oneonta Girls).

BOYS DIVISION

In Group 1, Fayetteville-Manlius from Section III grabbed their first High School Hall of Fame Cup title with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over last year's Cup winner Union-Endicott. In the consolation match McQuaid Jesuit scored two late second half goals to drop a pesky Binghamton side 2-0.

Vestal breezed through Group 2 to their first High School of Fame Cup title in five tries with a 5-1 victory over Maine-Endwell. Oneonta came out firing on all cylinders and defeated South Glens Falls 6-1 in the consolation match.

Defending Class D New York State Public High School Champion Edmeston earned the title in Group 3 with a 2-0 win over Lake George. Port Jefferson defeated Unatego 3-1 to win Group 3's consolation match.

Waterford scored their first Hall of Fame Cup title with a 1-0 over Class D powerhouse Jasper-Troupsburg in Group 4 championship match. In the consolation match Milford downed local rival Worcester 2-0.

In Group 5 Rye Country Day held off last year's Cup winner New Lebanon 2-1 to win their first title. Cincinnatus dropped Our Savior 2-0 in the consolation match.

 

GIRLS DIVISION

In Group 6 Niskayuna earned their third High School Hall of Fame Cup title with a 1-0 win over South Glens Falls. In the consolation match Washingtonville downed Vestal 2-0.

Oneonta defeated Westhill 2-1 in overtime to win their third consecutive Hall of Fame Cup Championship in Group 7. Maine-Endwell squeaked by New Paltz 2-1 in Group 7's consolation match.

Unatego for the second consecutive year defeated Galway on penalty kicks to win Group 8 1-1 (3:1 PKs). Candor defeated Port Jefferson 1-0 in the consolation match.

New Lebanon won their second Hall of Fame Cup title win a convincing 4-0 victory over Edmeston in Group 9. Last year's champion Cincinnatus defeated Milford 3-0 in the consolation match.
