The Hall of Fame
hosted a breakfast for the surviving members of the 1950 US
World Cup team during the NSCAA Convention in Charlotte, NC. The
players present represent one of the greatest upsets in World
Cup history, when a US team of part-time players took on the
respected England team - odds-on favorites to win the World Cup
and emerged 1-0 victors.
The players in attendance were
Walter Bahr, Frank Borghi, Harry Keough, Gino Pariani, and John
'Clarkie' Souza. All were inducted into the Hall of Fame in
1976. |
