New York’s
Senator Charles ‘Chuck’ Schumer stopped by on a tour of
important facilities in the Southern Tier of New York State
today to get his first look at the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
"You have done a great job here," he stated as he
strolled among the exhibits in the Museum. "This is an key
institution for this part of the State and I am surprised to
hear that more than 50% of visitors are from outside New
York." Hall of Famer George Brown accompanied the Senator
on his tour. "You know my daughter is the Varsity Goalie
for her school team as a freshman," he told Brown with
unvarnished fatherly pride. Following the
Museum tour, the Senator met with City of Oneonta Mayor Kim
Muller and County Representatives Cathy Rothenberger and Roberta
Puritz in a Museum meeting room. Roberta talked with the Senator
about the part of the facility he had missed, "I have been
all over the state with my soccer-playing children and there is
no question these are the best fields they play on!"
"I’ll have to get my daughter’s team to play on the
Hall of Fame fields and visit the Museum," he responded. |
